JLA/AVENGERS #3 (of 4)
Strange Adventures (48 pages)

Marvel/DC Comics

Story: Kurt Busiek
Artist: George Perez

This penultimate chapter of JLA/Avengers ramps up even more that the first two issues.

Busiek taps into the fun readers and creators alike had with Amalgam Comics in the mid 1990s by merging universes rather than characters. The script fosters the perfect tone of cosmic crisis, bringing suspense to the mix.

Long time comic readers should pay close attention as the book is packed with numerous continuity references from both companies' publishing histories.

Synopsis:
The annual JLA/Avengers get-together is shown over the years, with many members and many adventures. But Captain America and Superman don't believe these new world circumstances. Eventually, the spell fades and the 2 groups -- aided by the Phantom Stranger, journey to the Grandmaster's final resting place. He reveals to them their destinies -- most of which are heart-rending at best. Only then do the heroes decide to combine forces against Krona.
